Because I’m a giver…

I’ll be posting twice today.

I was lazy yesterday and gave you all no internettery to help get you through your boring, boring work day. I AM SORRY, OKAY?

First!:

My friend Liam is directing a play which starts tonight (!) and it’s at a High School which I KNOW sounds silly because we are all nowhere near High School anymore but it’s Liam and he is kind of an experimental theater genius so while I’m sure there will be all sorts of angsty teenage hiccups it will also probably be the most interesting piece of theater to happen in Portland for a long, long time and well, here…READ

LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA DEPARTMENT presents

LOVE/SONG

TWO WEEK, SEVEN PERFORMANCE RUN
BEGINS WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23rd AT THE LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM

Lincoln High School culminates its 2007-2008 season with the world premiere of Love/Song, the first devised piece of theatre to appear on the Lincoln High main stage. Director Liam Kaas-Lentz guides an ensemble of actors through the devising theatre process to create a new piece of drama examining the nature of men, women, relationships, and love through love songs of the past 50 years. Sometimes true. Sometimes false. Sometimes both hilarious and sad, Love/Song looks at love through the eyes of high school students today.

Using devising methods inspired by Sojourn Theatre, Hand2Mouth Theatre, NaCL, and Forced Entertainment, the ensemble has spent 3 months creating, writing, and rehearsing this world premiere piece of theatre. Lincoln High School continues its tradition of being at the forefront of theatrical education for high school students. Its commitment to new works, fostering talent, and pushing the boundaries of “traditional” theatre, Lincoln High School is not your parent’s drama program.

You know what’s weird? I graduated from Lincoln High School.

But not that one.

True story.

Liar. There is no way…NO WAY…there could ever be another high school called Lincoln.

Pants.On.Fire.

Wow, a lot has changed. The only plays my high school ever did were grease with all the sex and swearing taken out and Oliver Twist.

I directed this play! At THIS Lincoln High School!

This show has Queen AND Broken Social Scene AND Tom Waits AND Barry Manilow. Plus, guys kissing guys, girls kissing girls, and…wait for it…the best Kathleen Hannah cover you’ll see this year. (Complete with spitting water at the audience and wife-beaters that say SLUT.)

Serious.

THANKS KIALA!!!!

Aren’t people usually arrested for orchestrating under-aged girl-on-girl action? And, if not, how do I go about getting my record purged?
